The flame robin breeds from August to January in the Victorian high country, migrating to lower altitudes in autumn and winter. As autumn approaches, they can be seen in open habitats such as farmland and recently ploughed paddocks. They also occur in other grassy areas, such as golf courses, ovals or parkland in built-up areas.
